Dear Member
This evenings posting signals the official end of our 2005 NE season. I would like to take a moment and thank you for choosing Oceantemp as your chartprovider. We have worked very hard to try and provide you with charts that are clear and easy to read and hopefully of use to you.
We feel we are doing a good job due to the fact that we gain back nearly 70% of our customers
each season plus new customers however we always understand the need for improvement. We have also noticed that some customers disappear for a year only to return once again on a later year. This clearly tells us that some customers have gone to try out other services and have come back to us.
The weather situation this season just has to be mentioned. I have been in this business since 1994 and have never... never seen a season with as much cloud cover and fog as was experienced this year. We marked one particular area this season that had not seen clear skies for almost 3 weeks straight. It was just unbelievable! We had to actually start updating cloudy areas just to show that we were still here doing our work.
We know tempers were growing short and we appreciate the understanding and patience displayed by nearly all of our members with the exception of a scant few. Cloudy weather does
not do us any good and actually causes us more work at times. We sincerely hope that we do not see another season like this for a long long time as it tends to give us nothing but "high anxiety"
On a side note... we would like to point out a fact that many of our members are unaware of, that is, that we have always advertised that we post at
least one (1) set per day since we began service on the internet in 2000, however, we have always strived to do better then that. That said, we are
happy to say that we were able to update twice per day this season 99% of the time (not withstanding cloudy/bad weather days).
Also, due to our redundant systems and data sources introduced last year, we actually had no "down" days this season due to technical problems. Last year we had only (1).
We had expanded our coverage a bit further south this year to N. Carolina, below Cape Hatteras. We understand that some MA areas users do in fact
fish these areas late into the winter months as well as all year round and we are going to try and do something about that next year. We did not plan
anything for this year and do not have the resources to extend the season at this time. BUT..... Let me say that if something can be worked out within the next month we will notify all MA area members of that fact, but it seems unlikely right now.
If you enjoyed our service all we ask is that you spread the word. We gain a good amount of business from "word of mouth" referrals each year. If you did not like the service we will always listen to what you have to say in the hope that we can improve our service.
Again, thank you, and have a good Winter. Please support our troops and take any opportunity you can to thank them for the great job they are doing for you and me & our children. God Bless the USA.
Sincerely,
Fred Spinelli
President
